Later today the City of Johannesburg Speaker of Council, Cllr Nonceba Molwele will be launching the Speaker’s Civic Education Roving Van on her weekly Virtual Civic education Covid-19 show.

The loud hailing vehicle will expand civic education across the City with the focus on sharing Corona Virus safety messages, especially in densely populated areas.

The Speaker of Council, Cllr Nonceba Molwele identified a need to conduct loud hailing. Based on her own assessment and the interaction with various stakeholders around the issue of community outreach to influence behavioural change on Covid-19 whilst adhering to the Covid-19 regulations such as social distancing in particular. 

The program will be facilitated in collaboration with all the ward Councillors. The Health and social development department and the public Safety departments have been consulted and will play a critical role in the implementation of the project.

The van is scheduled to conduct weekly Covid-19 and Civic education programs, so that communities recognise it when it reaches their areas and to further empower and educate residents of Johannesburg.
