Residents of Bryanston Johannesburg especially motorists will be happy to know that Belgrave Street Bridge is set for a major upgrade. An important aspect prior to undertaking this upgrade is public participation.
Much of this has already been done from 2018 until July 2020 including an environmental assessment and obtaining the necessary licenses for the work. The community now has another opportunity to make constructive input in the development of their area.
The Johannesburg Roads Agency will be holding a webinar on Friday 4 December 2020 at 6pm to discuss the upgrade. Join on your computer or mobile app on this link Click here to join the meeting, titled Sameera Ismail’s meeting.
The bridge is a single lane which causes daily traffic build up and floods easily during rainfall. This causes much frustration for users who have to find alternative routes to continue their journey. Structural damage has also been found on parts of the bridge.
It is for this reason that JRA has decided to upgrade to a double lane to allow for safer, quicker free flowing traffic along Belgrave Street which feeds into the broader traffic outline of the region.
