The office of the Chief Whip in the City of Johannesburg Council has been temporarily closed after a senior member tested positive for COVID-19.
The affected employee has since gone into self-isolation at home until full recovery and all staff members who were in close contact with the employee have been advised to monitor the symptoms and undergo testing during the period of self-quarantine.
The office will be closed from tomorrow, 14 July 2020 until Thursday, 16 July 2020 for urgent deep cleaning and decontamination.
“We wish the employee and the family well during this time of recovery. They are in our thoughts and prayers. We also encourage all staff members to continue adhering to all health and safety protocols such as the correct wearing of masks, hand hygiene and maintaining social distancing,” the Chief Whip of Council Cllr Solly Mogase said.
The affected employee and the family will receive the necessary support.
