The Metropolitan Trading Company (MTC), which is mandated to deliver the City of Johannesburg's digital transformation programmes and offer the full spectrum of ICT services to the City and municipal-owned entities (MoEs), is calling on SMMEs to take part in the Reseller programme.

 

The programme aims to accelerate the economic participation of SMMEs in the City of Johannesburg in line with Smart City programmes, which the City is championing through its departments and MoEs.

 

The SMME Reseller portal system is paperless. It does not require SMMEs to visit the City of Johannesburg's offices. SMMEs using the portal have an opportunity to leverage these services:

 

  • Dark fibre services
  • Lit fibre services
  • Fibre to business
  • Fibre to residents
  • Internet access
  • WI-FI services

 

Below are the different tiers offered in the MTC Reseller portal:

 

MTC Reseller Tier

Types of SMME's Invited

 

Tier 1 Reseller (Client referrals)

 

Emerging SMMEs; community members with or without registered companies that refer a client to MTC for service fulfilment and earn a commission from revenue generated by MTC from the clients who take up MTC services.

Tier 2 Service providers

 

Emerging SMMEs already operating and offering value-added services by using the MTC network infrastructure.

Tier 3 Service providers

 

Emerging and established SMMEs that build and operate their network infrastructure and use MTC infrastructure for backhaul and advanced network services.

 

The development of the MTC Reseller portal has been completed and the following activities can now be conducted on the portal:

 

  • Registration of SMMEs to participate in the reseller programme.
  • Registration of new opportunities as and when they become available.
  • Update and changes of SMME information.
