It is with delight and appreciation to announce that the City has officially established a Disciplinary Board that will serve City departments and entities. 
 
This is in line with Municipal Finance Act (MFMA) Municipal Regulations for Financial Misconduct Procedures and Criminal Proceedings. The decision was taken during last week’s 50th Ordinary Council sitting.

This board is an independent advisory body whose primary task will be to assist the Council to investigate allegations of financial misconduct. Based on the outcomes of investigation, the board will make recommendations on appropriate steps to be taken regarding disciplinary proceedings, criminal proceedings, and/or another relevant steps that may need to be taken; and to monitor the institution of steps taken against implicated employees.

The membership of the Disciplinary Board is provided in terms of Regulation 4(6) of the Municipal Regulations for Financial Misconduct Procedures. The members appointed by Executive Mayor, Cllr Jolidee Matongo, are drawn from:
The Group Audit Committee
Group Legal and Contracts Department
Group Risk and Assurance Service Department
And any other senior official(s) as Council may deem fit.
 
These appointments have been delegated to the Executive Mayor. We hope that the board will ensure that all cases brought before them are dealt with great professionalism and resolved speedily. We wish them well as they execute this mammoth task on behalf of the City and its residents.
