The City of Joburg takes cognizance of the impact that the COVID-19 pandemic as well as the recent incidents of looting have had on its ratepayers.

These events came at a time when consumers were already taking strain amid a subdued economic climate.

Following the successful Debt Rehabilitation programme which has benefited a number of qualifying households,  the City hereby extends further relief to all consumers, both business and households.

With effect from 1 August 2021 until 30 September 2021, all consumers who have not taken up or qualified for the Debt Rehabilitation programme will qualify for a reduced minimum down payment when entering into an acknowledgement of debt arrangement.

T
he City will – for the 2 month period - require only a 10% down payment towards a payment arrangement in order to assist struggling customers to bring outstanding accounts up to date. This will make it easier for consumers to pay off their outstanding balance over a period not exceeding 48 months, while avoiding credit control action an ensuring uninterrupted supply of services.

Indebted customers are urged to make use of this offer by visiting their nearest Customer Service Centre or email
creditcontrol@joburg.org.za to take advantage of this relief initiative.
