On behalf of the City of Johannesburg, Councillors and Staff, I would like express our heartfelt message of goodwill to the Muslim residents of our City.
It is undeniable that we have just witnessed one of the most difficult weeks of our recent times. Forces that seek to divide us create circumstances that give rise to communal tension. It is under such situations that our resolve to nation-building are tested.
Throughout the pandemic, during occasions of local disasters in the city and even in the aftermath of the unrest we have recently experienced, we see the combination of resilience and generosity of the Muslim community coming to the fore. This is a source of inspiration for all the citizens of Johannesburg.
It is the reason why once again we take the pleasure and delight in wishing the Muslim citizens of the city and indeed all over the country, a blessed and joyful Festival of Sacrifice, Eid-ul-Adha.
We look forward to the continued support and cooperation of all in overcoming the challenges of our City where the Muslim community is woven in its tapestry.
Once again, a joyous and spiritually fulfilling Eid Mubarak!
