The City of Johannesburg reminds property owners to pay their municipal bills before they take off for long December holidays.

Those who receive their bonuses or 13th cheques are encouraged to also prioritise their municipal bills.

City’s Spokesperson, Kgamanyane Maphologela, says during the festive season – traditionally, many Joburgers would either be going down to the coast or heading to the National Park for a long-deserved break.

“It’s one of the busiest holidays where our customers would normally be going away with their families.

We know how easily one can forget to pay their accounts. We remind our valued customers to settle their accounts in full and on time before they go away for the holidays,” says Maphologela.

Maphologela warns that a lot of customers normally default on their payments over the December holiday period.

“We understand that many families feel the pinch in their pockets at this time of the year, but we want to remind our customers that they are required to settle their municipal debts. Our credit control procedures continue throughout the holiday season.

We would hate to see a situation where any of our customers find themselves experiencing discomfort of going without access to basic services like water and power simply because they missed a payment,” says Maphologela.
