Executive Mayor, Multi-Party Government Councillors to lay assault charges against ANC and EFF Councillors

The Executive Mayor of the City of Johannesburg, Cllr Mpho Phalatse, will today 14 January 2022, lay criminal charges against several ANC and EFF councillors.

Cllr Phalatse will be accompanied by Multi-Party Coalition Government Councillors, who suffered physical injuries, to lay assault charges against ANC and EFF councillors.

This follows last nights aborted council sitting which descended into chaos when councillors, mainly from the two organisations, refused to allow council business to commence.

Yesterday’s sitting should have seen the election of Chairs of Chairs as well as Chairpersons of Section 79 committees.
