On 30 March 2022, the MMC for Health and Social development, Councillor Ashley Sauls I, was invited to Glenanda Clinic in the south of Johannesburg.
The MMC was shown around the facility and was afforded the opportunity to understand some of the challenges and frustrations facing the clinic, with the biggest issue being the physical size of the facility being far too small to manage the number of patients being received as well as the amount of space each staff member can use.
Another complaint that was noted was the lack of an online filing system, with data capturing and filing being a cumbersome process.
The nurses and other staff members along with the MMC signed a pledge to serve with care, love, respect, dignity, and without discrimination, to provide privacy and to protect the institution. The MMC wishes to extend his thanks to the Acting ED of Health, Mr Moseane, the Chief Whip Mr Meyers, the Acting Director of DHSD Ms. Mmatli and all present who made the “I serve with a smile” day a wonderful success.
