In the spirit of cooperative governance, I today, on behalf of the Johannesburg Multi-Party Government, submitted a report to the Gauteng MEC for Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, Honourable Lebogang Maile.

The report titled “The recent actions taken by the Multi-Party Government to comply with the law and combat corruption”, seeks to inform MEC Maile of the facts concerning the City’s necessary and legal decision, to regularise the employment of City personnel serving in Political Offices, whose contracts were unlawfully and irregularly converted from fixed term to permanent by the former ANC Mayoral Committee.

In order to allow the MEC and his Officials space and time study the 8-page report and acquaint themselves with the facts, I will not be publishing the report for the time being.

I trust that MEC Maile will find all to be order, and he will henceforth support our efforts to eliminate corruption, waste, and the capture of the City, so that we can equitably deliver services to Johannesburg’s close to 6-million residents.

We will never compromise on our commitment to build a well-run Johannesburg
