The MMC for Community Development, Cllr Lubabalo Magwentshu has pledged his support to the Joburg Basadi Football Challenge Pre-Season Tournament during the Women’s Month.

Joburg Basadi Football Challenge Pre-Season Tournament is meant to assemble women teams and prepare for the upcoming season. This will help female players to improve fitness, agility and strength.
Women football, like most women sporting codes, is not receiving expected support. Hence, The City of Joburg Sport and Recreation has taken a decision to change this narrative by implementation women in sport programmes and events.
Participating Teams are; Mamelodi Sundowns, Wits University, University of Johannesburg, TS Galaxy Queens, Blue Birds, Blue Raycons, JWV FC and Diepkloof Ladies FC.
The Pre-season tournament fits well within the pillar of competitive /elite sport which seeks to emphasise Joburg as the Home of Sports and World-Class Sporting Events.
