Attempts by the Johannesburg Property Company (JPC) Chairperson to derail a legitimate governance process of hosting the Annual General Meeting of the City’s entities was dealt a blow today when the High Court ruled in favour of City.

The JPC board chairperson (Adv Brenda Madumise) went to the High Court to seek an urgent interdict against the City’s AGM scheduled for tomorrow in Roodepoort.

The Court upheld the City’s decision to host the AGM which confirms that the scheduled event continues tomorrow.

The appointments of board members are for a year with a possibility of extension for up to three years at the discretion of the Shareholder and all members of the board are informed of that fact.

The assertion by the board person that the interdict was on the basis that there was no assessment of the board’s performance was found to be incorrect by the court.

Board assessments are conducted on an ongoing basis by the Group Governance Department.

The JPC chairperson lost the case with cost which confirms the continuation of the City’s Annual General meeting.
